Our team is run by us and for us, being a part of a committee helps to give back to the team for continued growth!

  • This is a closed committee. If you are interested in joining this committee, we ask that you contact BOTH the Vice President AND Vet Coaches with your reasons for wanting to join, qualifications, experience, or any other relative information they can use to make the decision.

    • Develop and maintain practice structure for Vet League practices.

    • Support Fresh Meat in developing/maintaining a practice structure

    • Develop off-skate and off-day training for all members.

    • Run structured practices, including both standard, and make-up practices.

    • Keep track of member skill levels and progression.

  • Bout Production/Scheduling is responsible for every detail of bout production, from scheduling to facility rental to beverage sales, and everything in between. The committee will delegate tasks to all league members prior to home bout dates. 

    EVERY SKATER IS REQUIRED TO SUPPORT BOUT PRODUCTION FOR HOME BOUTS.

    • Research available teams for bout/scrimmage through previous contacts or Facebook groups such as Midwest Derby.

    • Work with Coaches to determine levels of play and availability

    • Communicate with the EBOD on bouts and dates

    • Schedule/secure bout dates and locations

    • Work with the VP to coordinate dates with Home Bout location and secure other practice facilities in the event Home location is unavailable.

    • Plan home bout setup

  • Marketing keeps our league visible and vibrant - managing social media, designing promo materials, and spreading the word about events and recruitment. They make sure the Root River Rollers stay on everyone’s radar.

    Marketing has access to post on all of our socials.

    • Maintain Facebook/Instagram and respond to messages promptly

      • Promote and create events for all home bouts and keep us active on our socials with regular posts

    • Maintain our RRR Website and ensure all bouts/events, team, merch, etc are always up-to-date

    • Create programs for distribution at our home bouts

      • Work with VP to ensure rosters/headshots, officials and volunteers are included

      • Work with Sponsorship/Outreach to ensure sponsors and upcoming events are included

      • Work with Treasurer to get programs printed for our bouts

    • Create/manage team branding, posters/flyers and any other print media

      • Communicate and hand-off print media to Sponsorship/Outreach for distribution

    • Merch, Birthday and Sponsor post support

      • Post social media content created by Merchandise/Facilities, Sponsorship/Outreach and Sunshine & Rainbows

    • Support Fresh Meat Committee on recruitment efforts

      • Help create/post social media content to promote Fresh Meat Bootcamps and recruit skaters

    • Develop and maintain practice structure for Fresh Meat Bootcamps

    • Help develop curriculum/MSRs with VP and Safety/WFTDA

    • Run structured practices, including both standard, and make-up practices.

    • Keep track of attendance, skill levels and progression

    • Plan Freshie graduation ceremony and Skate Mates (derby sibling) program

    • Help with team recruitment efforts and bootcamp promotion

      • Work with Marketing and Video Production to come up with/create promotions

      • Take pictures/videos to send to Marketing and Video Production for editing

      • Communicate when boot camps are happening to Marketing and Video Production

  • Merchandise/Facilities ensure we have all of our ducks in a row for practice, bouts, and events.

    • Creating and maintaining inventory of all league possessions including, but not limited to, gear, banners, signs, equipment, and merchandise for sale.

    • Research new merch and costs and seek lowest cost vs quality, create/submit purchase requests for merch and team orders

    • Staff and maintain merch sales at events. Including pre and post event inventory and reconciling sales with the treasurer.

    • Keep all merch and team possessions organized, maintain skate equipment, determine if more equipment needs to be purchased

      • Work with Treasurer if new equipment is needed

    • Ensure that all necessary items are present at events/practices/appearances as needed. 

    • Create merchandise promotions for social media and livestreaming

      • Work with Marketing and/or Video Production to get promotions posted to social media

  • Sponsorship/Outreach fuels the league’s growth by connecting with local businesses and communities, planning fundraisers, and making sure our sponsors shine in everything from bout programs to social media.


    • Reach out to local businesses for sponsorship opportunities, maintain and track our sponsors

    • Find ways to support local communities/charities/organizations, and represent our team. Maintain a database of organizations we support

    • Develop fundraisers, organize donation drives, create proposals for bout profit donations

    • Promotional material distribution

    • Create regular (monthly) sponsor posts for Marketing, and ensure sponsors are properly represented in our programs, bouts and social media

      • Work with Marketing to get sponsor posts posted to our socials

  • Officiating is the backbone of bouts, mixers and scrimmages. Without officials, skaters cannot do what they do best.

    • Study and become knowledgeable in the ruleset(s) used by the RRR 

    • Learn, study and become knowledgeable with WFTDA penalty calls, hand signals and penalty acronyms according to the WFTDA 

    • Create drills, tests, flash cards, etc for training purposes 

    • Recruit referees, NSOs, and volunteers for bout production 

    • Participate in (for training purposes) the officiating of scrimmages and practice drills 

    • Track and maintain track materials including ropes, tape, etc. assure these materials are present when needed 

    • Track and maintain needs such as white boards, markers, timers, whistles, or any other items needed during bouts/scrimmages. 

      • Work with Treasurer if new equipment is needed

    • Research and locate NSO / Officiating volunteer opportunities for members to participate in.

  • The Safety/WFTDA committee will be responsible for the establishment of the rules and guidelines to ensure the safety of our members and to stay current on WFTDA changes and guidelines. 

    • Work with VP to establish and maintain RRR return to play protocol. 

    • Maintain RRR safety equipment,  first aid kits and emergency contact lists 

      • Work with Treasurer if new equipment is needed

    • Contract needed safety staff for bouts and scrimmages 

    • Stay current on WFTDA changes 

    • Work with VP/Fresh Meat Committee to update MSR requirements if needed

    • Verify WFTDA Insurance coverage for all skaters and coordinate with individual skaters on their WFTDI status

  • This is a closed committee. This committee will help create team morale by ensuring all members feel welcomed and respected.

     

    • Reach out to non-active members to encourage practice and event participation. 

    • Organize support for and recognize members’ major life events (i.e. births, deaths, birthdays etc.) 

      • Work with Skater Liaison and Treasurer to decide on gifts/cost

    • Order flowers/show support for injured members.

    • Act as the welcome wagon by welcoming new members, answering questions, getting paperwork to new members, etc.

    • Create birthday posts for social media

      • Work with Marketing to get birthday posts posted to social media

  • Video Production captures the action and spirit of our league - streaming our bouts, creating highlight reels, and producing content that promotes and showcases our skaters and events. They help keep our story rolling on all our socials with a heavy focus on TikTok and Youtube.

    Video Production has access to post on all of our socials.


    • Maintain and post engaging content regularly to TikTok

      • Post all TikToks to Facebook/Instagram

      • Post at least 2x month during active season

    • Bout Livestreaming support

      • Work with VP and Bob Vallone for home bout streaming support

    • Help promote any and all RRR bouts/events through videos on our socials

    • Work with Fresh Meat committee on video recruitment efforts

      • Work with Fresh Meat Committee to come up with and create promotions

      • Edit videos taken by Fresh Meat Committee for TikTok/social media
